Habitat for Humanity Riverside and Restoreproudly presented the Annual Earth Day Festival held at White Park in Riverside on Saturday, April 24, 2010 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

    The event themed Green Living,was opened to the public free of charge and included over 40 informative vendor booths on green practices, energy and water efficiency, waste reduction, gardening and composting, entertainment, solar energy, retrofitting your home, solar cooking and much more. Habitat for Humanity Riverside and ReStore in partnership with our community also included our Kids' Craft Corner, face painting, magic and music for the children.

    Several presentations were available throughout the day including but not limited to:

    Auhtor Sheila Kee on her book, “Bird watching in your own back yard of the Inland Empire”; Unwanted Visitors-Common Household Toxins presented by Susan Fahmey and Worm Bins in Action, by Margie Yeager.

    Hundreds of people explored the Certified Farmers Market and received information about all things supporting Green Living, good eating, sustainable gardening and farming practices..

    Earth Day Festival 2010 sponsors included The City of Riverside, Riverside Public Utilities, Bank of America, Provident Bank, The Gas Company, Western Municipal Water District, Riverside/Corona Resource Conservation District, Certified Farmers Market, and Preferred Windows and Door. Volunteer groups from the Riverside Youth Council, UCR, Rotary Clubs, and Soroptimist International of Riverside pitched in to help make this event a real success.
