Volunteering
Who volunteers at the ReStore?
The ReStore is a valuable community resource that provides ongoing volunteer opportunities six days a week. Persons interested in volunteering fall into three basic categories: those who have spare time and want to contribute their time in service to Habitat for Humanity, Riverside (Volunteer), those who have had assigned community service (Community Service Volunteers) and students who have been challenged by their school/club/class/church to serve their community (Student Volunteers).
How do I volunteer?
While each volunteer is held to the same set of expectations, the processing of volunteers varies slightly (all volunteer paperwork is available at the register):
• A Volunteer – must fill out and submit the appropriate paperwork and
have a phone interview with the Director of Retail Operations. From
this point volunteer service opportunities may be offered.
• A Community Service Volunteer – must be assigned to us by an authorized
agency, like the Riverside County GAIN office or the Volunteer Center
of Riverside County. The agencies must submit their paperwork to the
ReStore (hand deliver is acceptable). The volunteer must fill out and
submit the appropriate ReStore paperwork, and then the volunteer will
have a phone interview with the Director of Retail Operation. From this
point volunteer service opportunities may be offered.
• A Student Volunteer –must be working through a program, associated
with a school, class, club and/or church; they will have assigned hours
to complete to meet their goals. They must fill out and submit the appropriate
paperwork and have a phone interview with the Director of Retail Operations.
From this point volunteer service opportunities may be offered.
Note: Student Volunteers under the age of 18 must have their legal guardian
fill out and sign their paperwork.
