A Blank Canvas
Finding a new canvas at the Riverside ReStore

When DIY guru, Fern Hudson-Woods walks into the Riverside ReStore she isn’t looking for completed art, she is looking for canvases. She eyes each piece of furniture and décor item, looking for inspiration for her next project. One of Fern’s most favorite projects at the ReStore is our cabinet door selection. She uses them to replace doors for her projects, or uses them as a base for a new creation!

For this project, she used the back
of the door as a blank canvas for a piece of art. This was Fern’s first time at
free handed work, and it turned out just gorgeous! The outline of the salt box houses were done
using oil based paint markers (you can purchase these at your local craft
store). The rest of the piece, the color on the houses, the trees, and the
clouds were done with craft paint.
A shelf was added on top to give the piece of art a functional purpose, an adorable display place for little trinkets.
We would love to see how you use your #ReStoreFinds as a blank canvas. Post your projects and tag us with #RiversideReStore. Your creation might even get featured in our blog!
